May Update - Baja

May 17, 2017

To our Donors and Supporters,

Thank you for donating. We hope all of you received our Thank You's cards. In regards to competition, we made a team decision to forgo competing this June and compete this October due to unforeseen circumstances. We had a hard time finding a welder who could fit us into their schedule. By the time he accepted our request, we had two decisions: to rush our project leading to mistakes and possible failure before June, or take our time, make sure the buggy is safe, reliable, and competitive, and compete in October with complete confidence we will do well. We decided to go with the second option. All major projects have set backs and issues and ours was too big to overcome in a short amount of time. We hope you will accept our decision to do this project right. In terms of the CVT, this will be finished building by mid-summer. Again we want to make sure our revolutionary design will work. In regards to those whose names are going the buggy, we assure you that your donation will be recognized. As stated before, our buggy will be used for years to come so your names will be a part of the buggy and team for a long time. We are a dedicated, determined, and growing team. We strive to compete and to represent you and UD with our best effort. More updates will be sent out during the summer.

With Great Appreciation,

The University of Dayton SAE Baja Team

MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE

March 13, 2017

Good Morning everyone,

Thank you for your support throughout our Flyer Funder campaign to raise funds for building our CVT transmission.  We have raised $3,400 of our $4,000 stretch goal.  Time to kick it into overdrive, we have just under 39 hours to raise the last $600.

Just because our campaign is in its final lap, doesn’t mean we want to be disconnected from you! Continue to send any questions, comments, and concerns to us at UDSAEbaja@gmail.com

Sincerely,

University of Dayton Baja Team

A Successful First Week!

February 20, 2017

Good afternoon!

Our team would like to thank everyone for their contributions. Within our first week, we have reached 86% of our overall goal, but we are not ready to throw it in park just yet! We encourage you to continue to share our page across social media, email, talk, and text!

Here's a couple of updates from our family to yours:

Last week, we invited students from Sinclair Community College to our team meeting.  These students decided to model their senior design project after the SAE Baja Competition.  Each school presented their designs and where they are in the design/construction process, as well as proposals for possible collaboration.  It was decided that we would not combine our teams, but instead encourage one another to reach our goals set for the semester.

On Wednesday (2/15/2017), our frame design was due to SAE for review.  We are patiently awaiting our results so as to move forward and start building and testing.

This past weekend was TechFest at Sinclair Community College.  A couple of our teammates volunteered at the SAE booth and guided elementary students on the design process by building balloon driven cars.

Thank you to everyone for helping us make the CVT a reality for our team, and as always, any questions, comments, and concerns are welcome! Just email us at UDSAEbaja@gmail.com

Sincerely,

University of Dayton Baja Team
